In today's busy world, children's level of stress and anxiety has skyrocketed. Demanding days of school, overscheduled extracurricular activities, competitive sports, over increasing homework and to top that of overstimulation of social media and technology.
Children need the support and to learn the abilities to self regulate their nervous system. This is where yoga will help, in helping keep children's body and mind in the present moment with mindfulness activities, breathing and yoga poses. Yoga poses are also incorporated into games, story telling and rhymes as well as fun and laughter.
An engaging Yoga class has a centering effect on children and builds their confidence from the inside out.
The emphasis is not reaching the end but bringing joy and wholesomeness to the practice or the process. They learn how to manage their emotions through breathing exercises, mindfulness activities and yoga poses that helps them stretch and tone their body that inadvertently will help them to feel strong and healthy.
In blooming yogis , much thought have been placed on the lesson plan such as the theme, music that is used, rhythm, eg. what children particularly need for that day (maybe they need a more stomping based or more strong movement music to get the wiggles out), which yoga poses that works well with the theme, plus fun and games. Music will be used in yoga poses/movement that goes well with the theme of the yoga class .
